 |
Which
Filter should I use? |
 |
If
you have a problem with the taste and smell of your
water and are currently buying bottled water then the
Pureflo Single Filter System is suitable.
If you live in a hard water area and also have problems
with limescale; your tea has scum on the top and your
kettle and iron are suffering from limescale build up
– you should use the Pureflo Dual Filter
System. This system has two levers –
one that supplies great tasting drinking water and a
second lever that supplies limescale free water which
you can use for cooking, hot drinks and equipment which
uses steam. |

 |
My water flow slows down long before
my change date / My water supply has a lot of particulate matter
in it.
|
 |
Use a 'pre-filter' in tandem with your usual filter. The pre-filter will trap all of the larger particles in your water and stop them clogging up the outside of your main filter. It is made of a poly spun material for a greater depth of dirt holding capacity and has a 10 micron rating. The filter fits one of our standard canisters and is placed in-line nearest the saddle valve. This filter only needs changing when your water flow is restricted. |
| |
|
 |
How
big are the Canisters? |
 |
The carbon
canister measures 2 ¾” dia x 9” long.
The Resin canister measures 5” dia x 11½”
long. |
 |
How
easy is it to fit a Pureflo Water Filter System? |
 |
The
Pureflo Water Filter System has been designed for easy
self installation. It should take no more than 30 minutes
to fit. |
| |
|
 |
What
equipment do I need to fit my Pureflo Water Filter System? |
 |
All
you need is a drill with a ½” bit and a crosshead
screw driver. |
| |
|
 |
If
I ask a plumber to fit my Pureflo Water Filter System
how much should I be charged? |
 |
Pureflo
have done a national survey of Plumbers and the cost
to fit the filter should be between £30 and £50. |
| |
|
 |
Do
I have to turn off the water at the mains to fit my filter? |
 |
No,
you do not have to turn off the mains to fit your Pureflo
Water Filter System. As long as you have a copper water
pipe the system is connected to the mains using a self
tapping saddle valve. |
| |
|
 |
I
have plastic Water Pipes, is this OK? |
 |
It
is not possible to use the saddle valve on plastic pipes
as plastic has no memory. When you pierce a hole in
copper it remains a hole, a hole made in plastic will
close over again. If your mains water pipe is plastic
you have 2 choices:-
1. Insert a short length of copper pipe into your existing
plastic pipe to attach the saddle valve to. OR
2. We can provide a T joint and some extra piping instead
of the saddle valve. The T joint again needs to be set
into your mains water pipe BUT using this method means
that your water will have to be turned off at the mains
each time you change your filter/s. |

 |
Can
I use a Pureflo System in my caravan? |
 |
Your can only
fit a system if your caravan is connected to a mains supply
or you have a micro switch fitted which gives a PSI pressure
of 20-30. |
| |
|
 |
Can
the Carbon Canister be fitted horizontally? |
 |
Yes it makes
no difference to the flow of the water. |
| |
|
 |
Can
the Filters be cleaned? |
 |
Carbon
filters cannot be cleaned, they need to be replaced
every six months.
Ceramic filters can be cleaned up to 8-10 times. Either
check the filter regularly for a build up on the outside
or clean when there is a reduction of flow. Clean with
a wire brush either wet or dry. |
| |
|
 |
If
I buy the Dual Filter system can I position the canisters
further apart? |
 |
Yes, just
ask us for an extras length of pipe. |
| |
|
 |
How
often do I need to change my filters? |
 |
After
six months your Ion exchange resin will not be so affective
so will need
replacing. Your carbon filter does not ‘wear out’
but will have a ‘build up’ on the
outside so for the sake of your health it must be replaced.
Pureflo Direct will send you a reminder the previous
month giving you plenty of time to buy replacements.
If you do not fit your system at the time of purchase
make sure you put the fitting date on your guarantee
and return it so that we are sure to have the correct
reminder date for you. |
| |
|
 |
How
long will it take to fit a new filter? |
 |
It should
only take about 5 minutes to change your filters. |
| |
|
 |
Where
can I purchase replacement filters? |
 |
Replacement filters can be obtained from Pureflo Direct here
on the web site, or via the Pureflo Direct hotline on 0845 230 5565
. |
| |
|
 |
What
are the filters made of? |
 |
The
single filter is a Natural solid Carbon Block. The Dual
filter also has a cartridge containing an Ion Exchange
Resin to remove the limescale. |
| |

 |

I
have a different make of Water Filter System but would
like to change to a Pureflo System do I need to change
everything? |
 |

|
 |
Why
does the Dual Filter System have two levers? |
 |
The
black lever is for drinking water as it only passes
through the solid carbon filter block.. Use the red
tap for cooking and to fill your kettle, iron, steamer
etc. This water goes through the carbon and the Ion
exchange resin to remove the limescale. |
