Problem Solving

Every effort is made to give you a kit which is easy to install by anyone and a set of simple to follow instructions are enclosed, however, we are aware that sometimes problems do arise. We have therefore compiled a list of the questions we have been occasionally asked in the hope that it may save you time. If you cannot find the answer to your question here please call us on 0845 230 5565 during office hours (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday), or leave a message on our answer phone and we will return your call; alternatively send us an e.mail giving details and leaving a daytime telephone number where you can be contacted.

My new kit has a piece of plastic tubing in the hole where the spout fits.
This is to stop the black lever slipping off during the fitting process. Once the tap unit has been secured to your sink or worktop remove the tube and insert the spout.

The black lever has come away from the tap unit.

With the lever off the tap unit you will be able to see a small brass T bar on a threaded rod. It is the action of the lever pulling this bar that releases the valve inside the tap. To refit, firstly make sure the T bar bridges the gap between the sides (diagram A). Hold the black lever horizontally with your thump on the flat top of the wedge part of the lever. Place the parallel runners on the bottom on the lever over the spout hole (diagram B) and pull the lever back over the T bar (diagram C > diagram D). The T bar must stay at right angles to the sides or the lever will just pull off again, you will be able to see this under the lever. If you cannot pull the lever over the T bar it may be that the T bar is wound down the rod too far. Wind the T bar up one turn and try again. Keeping the lever flat either replace the plastic tube or insert the spout.

There is water leaking from the tap unit.
The T bar under the lever is too high. Remove the spout, push off the lever, wind the T bar right down and follow the instructions above winding the T bar up one turn at a time until you can pull the lever on. Refit the spout.

There is water leaking from a connector.

Pull up the lever on the tap unit allowing the water to run, close down the saddle valve until the water stops. Undo the connector and refit making sure the pipes are pushed in completely. Turn on the water again. If the connector still leaks let us know and we will replace the connector.

There is water leaking from the canister lid.
Pull up the lever on the tap unit allowing the water to run, close down the saddle valve until the water stops. Disconnect the canister and make sure the lid is done up tightly. Turn on the water again.

There is water leaking from the cold water pipe where it is pierced by the saddle valve.
The saddle valve should fit snugly onto the pipe. Make sure you have fitted the filler between the pipe and the threaded nut and the nut is wound in tightly enough.

The water is running slowly.
The water will run slower than your normal tap due to the size of the pipes but you should still have a good flow at 2 ltrs per min (+/- 10%) , if you have not, try the following:-

Try adjusting the saddle valve this should increase/decrease the flow.

Open the tap lever and then close the saddle valve. When the water stops running altogether remove the connectors from the canister and insert the canister the other way round so that the red pipe is connected to the screw cap end. Turn on the saddle valve again.

If you are still not getting a flow please call us but before you do please ascertain where in the system there is a restriction. To do this first turn off the water, disconnect the red pipe from the canister and then, holding it over a bowl, turn on the water again. If the water comes through freely turn off the water again and reconnect. Now disconnect the blue pipe from the top of the canister and turn on the water again. If the water does not flow through the canister it is the carbon causing the problem, if it does flow through the canister it must be the tap unit. Reconnect your system and give us a call.

Having fitted a system or a new Carbon the water comes out cloudy then clears.
This is caused by air bubbles, leave the water running for a couple of minutes until the air has been forced out of the Carbon. This will also make sure any lose particles are cleared out of the system.

Please do not think that you will have a problem with your system, only a few people do. Your System has a lifetime guarantee provided you return your guarantee card and replace your filters every six months with filters purchased from us. We would not offer this guarantee if we did not have every confidence in our product.
